Volunteer Diaries: Meet Anala

“Change isn’t brought about consciously. It happens unknowingly.” says Anala, who has actively worked with Youngistaan Foundation since 2018.

Anala has been associated with our Bright Spark education program and also worked with the Young Climate Leaders’ Action Project (YCLAP) and We Volunteer project. She has spent time with children and has formed a strong and nurturing relationship with them over the years.

“When I joined Youngistaan Foundation in 2018, I never expected my journey here to last this long and did not have any specific ideas in mind. But within just a few months, I took to volunteering like a duck to water. I was completely amazed by the work being done and realized that it is actually very challenging and to be taken seriously. I never missed a session and formed a great bond with the children I worked with.

Volunteering has given me a sense of purpose and has filled me with positivity. The changes can also be seen in my personal life as it has made me face my challenges with courage. I gained self-esteem and knowledge, and have been connected with so many inspirational people from all walks of life, learning something new and unique from each one.

After a year of working with children, they said something that I hold close to my heart to date. They told me that other people visit and leave, but they feel close to me because I stayed with them. They lovingly gave me the name ‘Youngistaan Mommy’! All I gave them was my time, nothing materialistic, and yet that was enough for them. These children keep me motivated to work harder.

Volunteering makes us look beyond our needs and connects us to the needs of those around us. It achieves a twofold purpose: you change not just the world but also yourself. This change happens unknowingly, but for me, it did happen.”

Anala’s contributions to Youngistaan Foundation’s programs speak volumes. She has proved time and again that with hard work, commitment, passion for work and a longing to change the world, you can make anything possible. For inspiring so many of us every day, we salute you Anala
