Volunteer Diaries: Deeksha

Helping others gives you purpose and brings you happiness,” says Deeksha who joined Youngistaan Foundation in 2020.

Deeksha joined Youngistaan Foundation during the COVID-19 pandemic and she has contributed significantly ever since. Deeksha participated in campaigns like the Cyber Congress and the Gender Equality program, changing many lives in the process.

Let’s hear from Deeksha!

I joined Youngistaan Foundation two years ago, when I was searching for a way to spend my time making people’s lives better. I could think of no better use of my time than the work I currently do here.

I didn’t have any expectations of anyone besides myself when I initially signed up to volunteer. But the organization and its people became my second home and my second family. I continue to find something amazing to learn from the extraordinary people I interact with in our programs. Their passion is what continues to keep me motivated.

During the pandemic, I recall the days when we devoted our time to online awareness campaigns to keep people safe from contracting or spreading COVID-19. Being a volunteer has undoubtedly made those difficult times more bearable.

Volunteering has helped me open my mind to new perspectives. I have always believed that while providing financial assistance is honorable and appreciated, working hard and giving your time and personal attention for others is what truly makes a person happy.

There is so much more I look forward to doing. But looking back, I have enjoyed making a difference in the lives of children during the many campaigns we have run. Seeing their lives being transformed and knowing that I played a part in that transformation makes me the happiest person in the world. And that, in my opinion, is the greatest reward I could possibly get for being a volunteer.

Deeksha has brought awareness to many people’s lives with her new perspectives, unwavering motivation and never-ending thirst for knowledge. Deeksha, for your desire to make a change in your life and the lives of others, and your enthusiastic and warm spirit, we salute you!
