Presents…playgrounds…balloons…music and dancing…that’s right – it’s time for the ANNUAL CARNIVAL!
In December every year, Youngistaan Foundation holds a fun-filled carnival to give children from underprivileged communities one day out of the year to frolic in all the delightful activities that makes being a child so much fun!
2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and now 2021 – after two difficult years of the COVID-19 pandemic, our Annual Carnivals believe in giving children unforgettable memories by organizing activities to bring cheer and boost the morale of children who are encouraged to take part in games that bring out the best in them!
WHAT ARE THE ANNUAL CARNIVALS ABOUT?
Each year, the carnivals invite musicians and entertainers who communicate with the children through art, music, theater and lots of fun and games! The children who attend the carnivals are the children we work with throughout the year as a part of our education and awareness projects. The carnivals are a time to celebrate the social-emotional skills and positive learning attitudes which they display throughout the year. Furthermore, by awarding the children with medals and certificates, we aim to make them happy and proud of their accomplishments in a fun and light-hearted manner.
WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS YEAR WITH COVID-19?
Every year, we usually hold one carnival in one location and invite all the children in our programs to attend. But since 2020, due to COVID-19, we have been organizing mini carnivals in children’s neighbourhoods to ensure that the children are not around anyone who is not already a part of their daily interactions. The carnivals will be held on/near the campus ground of child care locations and the we will provide the children with masks and hand sanitizers to protect them as well as the volunteers and entertainers.
This 2021, we will have a popular theater group, dance artists, a games jockey, and COVID-19 hygiene and safety awareness sessions along with lots more that is being planned in multiple locations! We have held two carnivals with 3 more to go and here’s a little overview:
